1. Installing low voltage bulbs.
2. Optimal use of natural light in the design of the house.
3. Use of compact fluorescent lights that are five times more efficient
than incandescent lights and last six times longer.
4. Avoid using halogen lights, which require more power than fluorescent
lights. In some areas where the light is being turned on and off repeatedly
such as in the toilet and bathroom, they will be more efficient then
fluorescent types.
5. Install motion detectors in low traffic areas and carport, to
turn off when no movement is detected.
6. Install door-activated lights into dark areas such as pantry and
wardrobe.
