Implementation of Household Recycling at the Newton's.

To make the task of recycling simpler it is proposed to use a multiple bin system at the Newton House.

1. One bin would be for material that can be recycled off site, and currently the local authority (Gold Coast City Council) operates a fortnightly household collection service for recycled waste.

2. A second bin will contain waste for transport to the Council landfill site, for which the local authority offers a weekly collection service on a weekly basis. It is intended to minimise the amount of this type of waste.

3. All vegetation waste that can be composted will be placed in a warm farm. Newpaperes will be used in the garden as mulch.

Fruit and vegetables will be grown on site using permaculture theories. This will reduce a long chain of resource waste that starts with farmers (diesel, pesticides), transport (petrol, refrigeration), retail outlets (electricity, advertising, packaging), and driving to purchase the goods.
